    This was the first time in recent history that I had something to look forward to in the new year. To celebrate this new found hope, I invited my cousins Chris and Mike to go up the helipad before midnight.

    For the past few years since we started celebrating new year’s in a condo, we stayed indoors. We thought watching the fireworks inside a room forty stories above Manila was nice. To say that we were wrong is a gross understatement. If I only knew how awesome it would be to watch it atop one of the highest residential buildings in Manila, I would have invited others.

    Today and for the rest of my life, I choose to live.
